Dodgers: Denzel Washington’s Inspiring Pregame Speech For LA

The Dodgers got to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking MLB’s color barrier last week. As expected, there were plenty of celebrations to honor the legend. That included teams around the league wearing 42 as always, but this year they also wore the number was the blue that the team wears. It was incredibly special.

Among the many events scheduled for the day, the Dodgers also got to meet with Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington. He got the chance to speak to the clubhouse before the team’s game against the Reds, and it was phenomenal.

Even though Denzel grew up a Yankees fan in New York, he talked about the Dodgers in-depth and what they mean to so many. He also took the chance to remove his hat and put on a Dodger cap in the middle of his speech.

After his speech, Denzel took the time to take pictures and meet with Dodgers players individually. That included Mookie Betts, who he sat down with by his locker and talked to for a while. Denzel also spoke with Justin Turner about leadership, given that JT is still sort of the captain of this team.
