Dodgers: Edwin Rios Hit the Injured List With a Leg Injury

One day after being pulled from a game, Rios hits the IL.

The Dodgers will likely be without one of their powerful bats for at least a few weeks. Edwin Rios was officially placed on the injured list Monday afternoon with hamstring soreness.

The move comes just one day after Rios came up holding his leg on a slide into second base in Anaheim. Rios stayed in the game but was very slow to home plate in the same inning resulting in no run being scored. The Dodgers pulled Rios immediately after the inning was over.

Rios had been hitting well in his limited appearances in 2020. He was slashing .276/.323/.690 with 3 homeruns in 31 plate appearances. Rios also had an outstanding 1.012 OPS prior to being pulled from Sunday’s game. The Dodgers will likely lean on Matt Beaty in pinch-hit opportunities while he is gone.

In a corresponding move, left-handed pitcher Adam Kolarek was recalled from the alternate location. Kolarek came into Monday night’s game to pitch two innings against the Mariners int he Dodgers win.

Up Next for the Dodgers

After taking game 1 from Seattle, the Dodgers will play 3 more against the Mariners. Tomorrow’s game will be back in Los Angeles, while Wednesday and Thursday’s game will be in Seattle. Tony Gonsolin has been penciled in for the start tomorrow, pushing everyone back a day.

  1. Roberts showed why he should not be a manager as when Rios pulled his hamstring he allowed Rios to talk him out of pulling him from the game and subsequently he had to run home and I am sure re aggravated it and cost the Dodgers a run. Roberts is not a manager he is everyone’s friend.

  2. A player grabs the back of his leg and it’s an automatic sign to take him out of the game. By Roberts dumb move of not taking him out it cost the Dodgers a run and a player for at least several weeks. Get rid of Roberts.
