Dodgers: Edwin Rios on First and Second Home Runs of Career

The Dodgers improved to 81-41. Every night, it has been a new player to rise to the challenge and deliver for the Dodgers. It was Will Smith leading the offense last night, and it was Edwin Rios tonight. Rios had a memorable game tonight: 4 at-bats, 3 R, 3 H, 2 HRs, and 3 RBI’s. He joined the Dodgers in late June, and he seems to be fitting right in, already.

Edwin Rios spoke with Dodgers reporter, Alanna Rizzo, following tonight’s win.

Edwin Rios on his first big league home-run:

“I just yelled as loud as I can. I was just excited, and, man, it’s a feeling I’ll never foregt.”

Edwin Rios on his second home-run of the night:

“Everybody says it, once you get that first one out of the way, everything will just fall into place, and I was just glad I could get another one.”

Edwin Rios on how the importance of fouling off pitches and not chase:

“Huge. Just when I can control the strike zone, having better at-bats, walking, it’s just better for me, and better for the ball club.”

Edwin Rios on how much pride he takes defensively:

“I take a lot of pride. Every offseason, I just keep working my tail off, to just get better at my defense, just be able to make a good play, and have Kershaw look at me, and point at me, it felt pretty good.”

Edwin Rios on what it’s like playing behind Clayton Kershaw:

“Amazing. Quick innings, you’re not on your feet all day, and it’s amazing.”

Edwin Rios on performing in front of his home fans:

“It’s amazing. Words can’t describe it, I’m so happy, I’m full of emotion right now, and just going to enjoy this one, and soak it all in.”
