Dodgers: Edwin Rios Shares An Update With Fans Following Surgery

Dealing with injuries has been a huge hurdle for the Dodgers in 2021. And while most guys have been able to avoid serious injury, a few have watched their seasons fade away from an issue they’re battling.

Dustin May is obviously one of those guys, having undergone Tommy John surgery earlier this month. But the Dodgers also lost out on Edwin Rios after discovering a torn labrum in his shoulder. That resulted in season-ending surgery, much to the surprise of fans in Los Angeles.

Rios had the surgery done on his shoulder this week, as the Dodgers had previously predicted. On Thursday morning, Edwin shared an update from home now that he is out of the hospital. He looks well, and his pillow is amazing.

Rios was struggling all season long, and Dodgers fans were starting to wonder what was wrong. Through 25 games, Rios was slashing .078/.217/.137 with 1 homerun and 18 strikeouts. That’s not nearly the power threat that we’ve come to know over the last year,.

So while it was a surprise to see the Dodgers announced his season was over, it also made sense. Eddie was supposed to be a pretty big part of Los Angeles plans in 2021. Without a true third baseman to back up Justin Turner, they had to get a little creative with adding some players in.
