Dodgers Fans Boo Kenley Jansen in His First Appearance

Monday was everything that Dodgers fans could have hoped for welcoming back Kenley Jansen. After 17 years with the organization, Kenley moved on to the Braves on a free-agent deal this offseason. But the team welcomed him back into LA with a gift, and fans made their appreciation for him known.

But Tuesday night was a completely different story. Max Fried completely shut down the Dodgers offense and made them look silly. Meanwhile, Walker Buehler got tagged for a few runs and got run out of the game after just 5 innings of work.

That set the stage for Kenley to come in and get his first taste as the visiting closer. And the Dodgers fans in attendance weren’t about to cheer for him. But the boos started to rain down from the Los Angeles faithful, regardless of the 350 career saves he racked up here.

While there might not be any love lost between the Dodgers and Kenley, all bets are off when he’s coming in to close out a game. The fans there on Tuesday made that very clear. And as always, fans are entitled to voice their opinions while at the games, they always should.

But it was still a little bit of a surprise to see Dodgers fans boo Kenley. They might cheer for him if he blows a save on Wednesday night though.

  1. So trivial, what the fans should be doing is booing our vaunted offense. When facing good pitching, we suck.

  2. After 10 years, 350 saves, a WS ring, multiple pennants and division crowns, Kenley deserved to be re-signed first-before the lockout. Dodger fans aren’t happy that he signed with the Braves. That’s baseball.
