Dodgers Fans React to LA Trading for Two-Time All-Star Outfielder Joey Gallo
On the last day of the MLB trade deadline, Juan Soto wound up getting traded to the San Diego Padres. The Dodgers did acquire an All-Star caliber outfielder in Joey Gallo, but trading for an outfielder with a .159 average probably wasn’t what the Dodgers faithful were hoping for.
Fans took to Twitter to react to the Gallo trade.
buy low move i like it. maybe we can turn him back into what he was

Same sentiment. I think we’re in the minority on this. Hopefully the change of scenery will be blessing

Other Dodgers fans were not enthused with the move.
What an awful move. Should have got a prospect back just to pay his salary the rest of the year. Instead we give up a top 15 guy?!

Fans are betting on the Dodgers coaching staff turning Gallo's two-year long slump around.
Our hitting coaches are miracle workers. We may have gotten someone with high potential at a cheap cost. I trust our guys.

Look how they’ve helped Bellinger & Muncy! Freeman, Trea and Mookie are going to hit regardless

One fan blasted the front office for the move.
First front office L in awhile.... cant win em all

Another remarked how they wanted the Dodgers to go out and get more pitching.
Im scared we aint getting pitching?

It was also impossible to not relate the Gallo acquisition to other successful reclamation project players that panned out.
I honestly hope this is a Justin Turner/Muncy/Chris Taylor reclamation project & not a Robinson Cano to the Braves situation.

Fans wondered how LA will even use Gallo with the emergence of Trayce Thompson, Jake Lamb, and prospect James Outman.
He is not an upgrade over anybody currently in the outfield.

And last, but least.
I cannot believe we’d give up a prospect for washed up Gallo. Disgusted by this to say the least

Dodgers News: Padres Officially Land Juan Soto in Megadeal With the Nationals
To the guy that said “our hitting coaches work wonders.” Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger, Austin Barnes are my answers to that! Oh, but I’m sure they’ll turn a lifetime.201 hitter into Tony Gwynn
Well said. I can envision clown Roberts having a lineup consisting of Muncy, Bellinger, Barnes, and Gallo vs the Padres because he”believes” in these guys. Dodgers should have picked up Soto and then flipped him in 2.5 years to get prospects if they didn’t want to pay him and Boras when Soto’s contract ends. Wonder what Boras is going to ask for when Cody’s contract end. He obviously ain’t worth $18 million a year
It’s swap of Lamb for Gallo and Gallo is a much better fielder. This is a non-event except to the degree that he takes ABs from Vargas and Outman.
