Dodgers: Gavin Lux Expected to Return By Friday

The Dodgers wrapped up a series win over the Braves on Wednesday afternoon. They did that behind an excellent outing from Tony Gonsolin as well as a decent offensive approach against Charlie Morton. Freddie Freeman started things off with a two-run shot in the first inning, and they never looked back.

But they had to once again do it without the help of Gavin Lux. He has been a presence at the bottom of the order, getting on base at a very high clip and driving in runs often. The Dodgers have really benefited from his production down there to start the season.

But Lux had to sit out the last couple of games with back tightness. He was scratched from the lineup on Tuesday night just a few hours before game time. That resulted in them bringing Cody Bellinger back into the lineup. Roberts said before the game that they did not know his availability.

“Gavin is doing well. Just the back flared up, so I don’t know his availability. I would kind of put him in the class of day-to-day, and we’ll see how he feels Wednesday morning.”

But Doc did add that he expects Lux to be back in the Dodgers lineup by this Friday. With the day off on Thursday, they had a day to give him some more rest before they take on the Padres over the weekend. Getting him back in there will be huge for that series.

Lux is hitting .276 and has scored 9 runs for the Dodgers this year. He has already drawn 7 walks in his 10 games and continues to find ways to get on base.

  1. Gavin is starting to settle in. And for him, it is a high ceiling. Since his .390 average in Triple A; I think a lot of folks expected him to be an immediate All Star. Just happy he was not given up on or traded. Elite fielder. Elite base runner. And maybe the bat is on the way.
