Dodgers: Gavin Lux Recalled Prior to Second Game of Doubleheader

Dodgers fans will finally be getting their reunion with top prospect Gavin Lux. The number 2 prospect in all of baseball will be called up prior to the team’s second game of the doubleheader today against the Giants.

Lux was initially placed on the Dodgers’ taxi squad prior to this road trip. He had spent the first part of the season at the team’s alternate site located at USC. It was there that Lux was getting reps and at-bats in almost on a daily basis.

The Dodgers and Giants are allowed to carry one extra player for the doubleheader, per MLB’s new roster rules. The team did not announce the move before game 1, probably just in case they needed to pivot to an arm in Kershaw could not go deep in the first game.

Lux was a late arrival to the Dodgers Summer Camp this year, though he never said why. It resulted in a very slow start in which he often looked lost at the plat during intrasquad games. Lux was optioned to the alternate site prior to the start of the season, but Dave Roberts had said several times he was close to a callup.

The Dodgers will have to option one player after today’s game.
