Dodgers Hot Stove: LA ‘Going Hard’ at Freddie Freeman Says Former GM

One of the biggest remaining free agents still has yet to make his move. Longtime Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman has been linked to a few teams, but the Dodgers have been featured prominently in the rumor mill.

According to former GM and current analyst Jim Bowden, the Dodgers are still very much in the running to sign Freeman.

According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, Freeman is taking his time and surveying his options.

In addition to the Braves and the Dodgers, the Yankees and Blue Jays have also been linked to Freeman.

Naturally, reporters at Dodgers spring training had to ask Dodgers manager Dave Roberts for his thoughts on Freeman potentially signing with the Dodgers. Roberts had this to say:

“I would love to see Freddie Freeman in a Dodger uniform. I think that who wouldn’t? He’s a heck of a ballplayer. …certainly, in the conversation for us but ultimately it is going to be his decision. “

Dodgers: Trea Turner is a ‘Short-Timer’ with LA Says MLB Insider

Max Muncy, the Dodgers current first baseman, has already stated that he’s more than happy to slide over to second base if Freddie signs with LA. Muncy said that the thought of adding Freeman to the lineup makes him “really excited”.

Whenever and wherever Freeman signs will have significant implications for many teams. His decision could be the domino that triggers the Athletics trading away first baseman Matt Olson to a spurned Freddie suitor. The 2020 NL MVP’s contract could also shape the market for fellow top tier free agent shortstop Carlos Correa.

Wherever Freeman signs, Dodgers Nation will be have the scoop!

  1. Jim Bowden is always saying stuff like this hoping that he guessed right enough times that people keep listening to him. The reality is that the Dodgers need another starting pitcher or 2 way more than another 1st baseman. Plus they have guys coming up next year like Vargas who can play 1st, why block him? Yeah you could trade Vargas but that only leads eventually to a whole team of big contracts. Mookie, Trea, Buehler, Urias and Freeman?
I would rather listen to Mr. Common Sense than to Mr. Bowden. Even I have been right more than him!.

  2. THANK YOU Bohernian!! Glad I’m not the only one thinking the same wave-length. I have said all along, a starting pitcher or 2 is much more needed!! But leave it guys such as D-MAC who is OCD on Freeman.

  3. With Matt Olson being traded to the Braves, if the Dodgers don’t lock up Freeman now they will only have themselves to blame because his awesome left handed bat is theirs for the taking now.

    1. really surprised this deal hasn’t been done by now, if it’s actually gonna happen
