Dodgers – Indians Spring Training Game Thread

The Los Angeles Dodgers are taking on the Cleveland Indians today in what will be the team’s final game at Camelback Ranch before they head home to Los Angeles to finish up with the Freeway Series against the Angels. On the mound today will be Clayton Kershaw, the team’s ace. This is his final start.

The opposing pitcher today is former Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber, so this should be a pretty matchup between the two sides. The game is being broadcast online and we have you all setup with a webcast for it. Los Angeles’ lineup today is as follows:

Dodgers Fans Should Prepare For Another 90-Win Season

LIVE WEBCAST

FIRST INNING

A two-out single is wiped away after Kershaw strikes out Mike Napoli to end the top of the first. Dodgers coming up!

A one-out infield single ends up going for nothing after a strike ’em out, throw ’em out double play ends the first inning. Still scoreless.

SECOND INNING: TIED AT 0-0

Kershaw gives up a one-out walk, but he then gets Cowgill to go down swinging on strikes and gets the next batter looking at the curveball. Nothing doing for the Indians in the second.

A.J. Ellis gets a two out base knock up the middle, and Rob Segedin is up to bat now. Segedin then gets an infield single, and Charlie Culberson drives in the first run of the game on a single to center, but Segedin is then thrown out going first to third.

THIRD INNING: DODGERS LEAD 1-0

Kershaw begins the third with his third straight strikeout, but follows that up with a one-out walk. That walk is wiped out on a pickoff, though, and then a stolen base happens. With two outs, Adrian Gonzalez makes a fantastic catch in foul territory for the final out! What a play!

Chase Utley, of all people, beat out a grounder to shortstop for a one-out infield single. Trayce Thompson then struck out for the second out, and Adrian Gonzalez went down on a check swing third strike to end the frame.

FOURTH INNING: DODGERS LEAD 1-0

A leadoff walk reaches second base after a flyout to the warning track in right-center, and former Dodger Juan Uribe drives in the tying run with a double. After a groundout to third, R0berto Perez doubles to right-center to tack on the go-ahead run. It’s now 2-1 Cleveland. And then two two-out walks load the bases. A flyout to left ends the half-inning, but not before the Indians take the lead. Not a good half-inning for Carlos Frias.

Nothing doing for the Dodgers in the fourth as they go down in order.

FIFTH INNING: DODGERS TRAIL 2-1

After a two-out double, a misplayed ball in center by Joc Pederson allows the run to score to make it 3-1 Indians. E-8 on Pederson. Nothing doing after that, but Cleveland gets an insurance run off of an error as we head to the bottom of the fifth.

Rob Segedin leads off with a double to right field that dropped in at the warning track after right fielder Marlon Byrd fell down. After a groundout to shortstop, a pitching change is made, and then a strikeout happens for the second out. Unfortunately, the runner never crosses the plate as the final out is recorded on a strikeout, and we head to the sixth.

SIXTH INNING: DODGERS TRAIL 3-1

1-2-3 frame out of Frias, and we head to the bottom half.

The Dodgers go down in order in the bottom half, and the seventh inning is up next.

SEVENTH INNING: DODGERS TRAIL 3-1

After a leadoff walk, a single to right puts runners on the corners with no one out. A 6-4-3 double play puts two outs on the board, but the runner from third scores to make it 4-1. Lisalverto Bonilla is on to pitch now. He gets out of the inning after that with no more damage down. TIME TO STRETCH!

A leadoff double puts the Dodgers in business early in the bottom of the seventh. A hit-and-run with one is snuffed out after the runner is caught in a rundown at third base. Two outs now, and only a runner on first. But a two-out walk occurs, and now the tying run is up. However, nothing happens from the two-out at-bat, and we head to the eighth.

EIGHTH INNING: DODGERS TRAIL 4-1

A one-out double puts the Indians in business, but nothing doing for them after that as the Dodgers get out of the inning with no harm done.

One-out solo home run for Trayce Thompson! That cuts the deficit to 4-2. That’s all they get in the frame, but it is something.

NINTH INNING: DODGERS TRAIL 4-2

1-2-3 top of the ninth, and we’re three outs away from the final game at Camelback Ranch being over.

A one-out single up the middle followed by a one-out walk put the Dodgers in business, and Charlie Culberson singled home a run to make it 4-3. A foul popup to third was the second out. Game ends on an error by the second baseman that results in an errant throw to third, and when the ball got away the runner from third attempted to score but got thrown out at home. End of the game. Oh man what a tough loss.

FINAL SCORE: INDIANS 4, DODGERS 3
