Dodgers Injury News: LHP Garrett Cleavinger Hits the IL, Alex Vesia Recalled

At this point, fans would just really like 1 week where every Dodgers player stays healthy. Unfortunately, that will not be happening today. The team announced just before their game that they had one roster move to make.

The Dodgers are placing LHP Garrett Cleavinger on the 10-day injured list with elbow inflammation. That designation is backdated to May 16th, so he is eligible to come back 10 days from then. Cleavinger last pitched in a game on Saturday against the Marlins.

In a corresponding move, the Dodgers recalled LHP Alex Vesia to take his place. Vesia was just optioned the day before to make room for Albert Pujols and Yoshi Tsutsugo on the roster. He has appeared in 3 games for Los Angeles and combined for 4 innings.

The Dodgers do plan on throwing a bullpen game at some point this week. There were indications from Doc that it could be on Thursday against the Diamondbacks in game 4 of the series. That would open the door to pushing Trevor Bauer back to get a start against the Giants.

If that’s the case, the Dodgers are going to need some fresh arms this week.
