Dodgers: Is It Time to Move Gavin Lux Up in the Order?

If the Dodgers were going to consider playing with the lineup construction, now would be the time. They’re expected to be without Mookie Betts for about the next 2 weeks, so trying new things might be something Dave Roberts wants to explore. Possibly.

If that’s the case, then they should seriously consider moving Gavin Lux out of the 9 spot. Lux has quietly had a very good season for the Dodgers batting there, and he’s been even better in the month of June. In fact, he has statistically been their best hitter for the last 20 days or so.

Entering Tuesday’s game, Lux was hitting .347 in June with the best fWAR and wRC+ on the Dodgers. Those are pretty incredible numbers to be coming out of the 9 spot for Dave Roberts. So at what point do they consider moving him out of the bottom of the order?

There are basically two schools of thought here. On one hand, many believe that spot to be comfortable for Lux. Why move him out of there and get him out of his comfort zone when he’s producing like he is? On the other hand, the Dodgers are struggling big time on offense.

Getting him up near the top of the order could jumpstart what has been a batting order that seems to be in a funk. So what’s your take on the Lux situation? Do you move him up and hope that he stays consistent? Or don’t fix what isn’t broken? Jump into the comments section and let us know.
