Dodgers: Jedd Gyorko Signs with Milwaukee Brewers

According to multiple league sources, infielder Jedd Gyorko has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Milwaukee Brewers that includes a club option for the 2021 season, as well.

Gyorko spent minimal time with the Dodgers in 2019 and simply did not meet expectations.

Gyorko was acquired by the Dodgers from the St. Louis Cardinals at the 2019 trade deadline, marking the only deadline acquisition last season outside of lefty specialist Adam Kolarek, who the Dodgers acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays.

This is a very solid buy-low move by the Milwaukee Brewers as Gyorko was a consistent source of production prior to 2018. He is also a lefty-masher which the Brewers needed in 2019.

While his tenure in Los Angeles was lackluster at best, he is still a very solid major league talent. His 2019 was an anomaly when analyzing his full body of work as a professional. He was consistently injured last season and it should really have no effect on him going forward.

Gyorko only logged 39 plate appearances for the Dodgers in 2019, posting a 4 wRC+ — 96 percent below league-average. He looked unusually lost at the plate and will look to right the ship in 2020 with the Milwaukee Brewers. He holds a career 100 wRC+ and has experience at all four positions on the infield.
