Dodgers: Joe Kelly Names 5 Teammates He Would Want Backing Him Up in a Fight

We just passed the two year anniversary of the Joe Kelly Fight Club starting in Boston. If you’re not familiar with it, the current Dodgers’ pitcher got a reputation in Boston when he started a brawl with the Yankees back in Apri 2018. Take a look below if you have never seen the fight.

Dodgers fans were excited when they got a local California guy with a little bit of attitude to help anchor their bullpen. Kelly has been a fan favorite despite the fact that he had a roller coaster of a first season in Los Angeles.

But the Dodgers’ pitcher is always ready to go, and even named some teammates that he would want to back him up in a fight. He talked about it a few days ago on a podcast called the Bradfo Sho.

Yadier Molina, Mitch Moreland, Austin Barnes, David Freese, and I’m going to go with a wild card in Chris Sale.

It’s worth noting that Kelly selected players from each of the three teams that he has played on, which was pretty cool. He did select two Dodgers though, with Freese being on the team last year before retiring from baseball. Freese also played with Kelly in St Louis for a few years.

Austin Barnes seems like an interesting choice, but it would make sense that the two are close. Besides being a pitcher and catcher duo, Barnes and Kelly are both from the Inland Empire in Californa. Barnes played his high school ball at Riverside Poly while Kelly played at Corona High.

The Joe Kelly fight club experience has not yet come to the Dodgers, but give it time.

  1. I thought he meant just current Dodgers. I had:

    Kenley Jansen
    Cory Seager
    Kiké Hernandez
    Max Muncie
    Clayton Kershaw

  2. Who cares what Joe Kelly says or wants? He will never be a real Dodger until he wins an important game. Remember the last time he pitched in 2019 – Dodgers were eliminated.
