Dodgers: Joe Kelly’s Appeal Hearing Has Been Delayed

Dodgers fans anxiously waiting to find out the fate of Joe Kelly will have to keep waiting. The appeal hearing that was set to be decided by this weekend will be pushed back once again.

The Big Swing podcast, cohosted by Dodgers pitcher Ross Stripling, made the announcement this week. Joe Kelly had reportedly made an appearance on the podcast, but they are waiting to release the episode opening the appeal process.

Kelly received an unheard-of 8-game suspension for his part in an incident with the Astros. The league cited his history of intentionally throwing at players in their decision to issue the long suspensions. It comes out to about 22 games worth of suspensions in a regular season. The Dodgers’ Dave Roberts was suspended one game for the incident.

If Kelly is successful, it is likely that Kelly’s suspension would only be reduced in the number of games. It seems unlikely at this point that the suspension would be dropped entirely. The Dodgers have the roster to make it without Kelly for an expanded period of time.

Dodgers’ Schedule

The Dodgers will kick off a series against San Francisco starting tonight in Los Angeles. The Giants will be in town for three games with Jeff Samardzija set to get the start in game one against Julio Urias. The Padres will arrive for a four-game series right after this weekend.
