Dodgers: JT Chargois Recalled to Take Julio Urias’ Roster Spot
JT Chargois has been one of the Dodgers’ best pitchers down in Oklahoma City and has gotten the call to demonstrate his abilities once again at the big-league level.
The Dodgers today recalled RHP JT Chargois from Triple-A Oklahoma City and placed LHP Julio Urías on administrative leave.

Chargois has posted a 1.76 ERA and 1.17 WHIP across 15 2/3 innings, amassing 19 strikeouts. He is expected to begin his tenure in a low-leverage role, but could very easily find himself involved in high-leverage situations in later innings of games.
The reason for Chargois getting the call is not great, as it is a result of Julio Urías being placed on administrative leave while Major League Baseball investigates him for a domestic violence incident at the Beverly Center in West Los Angeles.
Chargois had a solid year for the Dodgers in 2018, with a 3.34 ERA and 1.27 WHIP and 40 strikeouts across 32 1/3 innings of work.
Talk about a downgrade…
I agree with you Mike. I was getting used to the idea that Urias(since the Dodgers wanted to limit his innings) to be used as a closer-type if Jansen was unavailable i.e. injured or needed a day-off. If Urias is still a member of the Dodgers, this is one way of limiting his innings.
Caleb Ferguson arrives on Friday when Dodgers hit the road and play the Reds. Who goes out to make room? Good question…
Lets forget about Urias for the immediate present as his fate is left to others. We need someone to fill in for an unknown duration, and this is where team depth plays an important role. Hopefully, Caleb or Chargois will fill in until Urias returns, or until the FO adds Kimbrell to the rotation. Go Blue!!!!
Losing Urias = BIG NEGATIVE BLOW to an already leaky bullpen……..JT Chargois is a steep downgrade to be sure.
