Dodgers: Julio Shines Versus Twins as Offense Carries LA to Ninth Straight Win

We are still two months away from the start of the Postseason, but don’t tell the Dodgers that. The best team in baseball all year long, Los Angeles continued to impress Tuesday night with a convincing 10-3 victory over the Minnesota Twins.

It was a true team victory with multiple contributors, but a few players stood out for their performances.

Julio Continues His Dominant Season

With the number of injuries to their starting rotation, the Dodgers have needed Julio Urias to carry the load this year. That is exactly what he has done, as he tossed another 7 excellent innings against the first-place Twins while racking up 8 strikeouts.

The victory was Julio’s 12th on the season, only three behind the major league lead. 2021 served as the young lefty’s breakout season, but 2022 has proven that he is here to stay.

Lefties Get it Going

The Trio of Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger, and Joey Gallo have struggled to get it going all season long. While Gallo’s struggles came in a different uniform, all three have shared similar seasons at the plate.

Things might be changing, however, as the trio combined for 4 RBI and 3 runs scored for the Dodgers on Tuesday night. Muncy and Bellinger in particular have been on fire recently, combining to hit .308 with 5 HR, 6 doubles, and 16 RBI in the month of August.

If any of these hitters can get it going before October, this lineup will be an absolute nightmare for opposing pitchers.

Up Next

The Dodgers will wrap up their two-game series against the Twins on Wednesday night as Ryan Pepiot takes the mound for the fifth time in his young career. With Clayton Kershaw sidelined with a back injury for the foreseeable future, Pepiot’s contributions will be extremely important for a team as they prepare to play meaningful baseball well into October.
