Dodgers: Justin Turner Not a Fan of the City Connect Hats

The Dodgers Nike City Connect uniforms have been met with mixed reviews. That might be putting it nicely. The jerseys were officially unveiled this week and fans have rightfully torn them apart online. But as more information comes out, it sounds like they’re slowly growing on everyone.

One thing that seems to be universally hated though, is the hat. The Dodgers’ City Connect hat is also all blue and features the text “Los Dodgers” just like the front of the jersey. There is no difference other than the stacked words.

Dodgers players haven’t said much about the new jerseys, but Justin Turner seems to be a fan of the blue. He does not really seem to care for the hat though, shown here in his response to a fan on Twitter

He’s got a point. The Dodgers’ hats absolutely could’ve been miles better. Even running out a normal LA hat would’ve been a step up above these. They’re plain, they’re boring, and they’re just not really fun.

That being said, the Dodgers are almost certainly going to rock these when they wear them tonight. The all blue is a little bit of an odd look, but it might just be because it’s new. I can’t wait to see them in action!

  1. At the start of the game, the guys don’t look comfortable in the uni’s. They look awkward looking @ each other. On TV looks like a unknown team.

    1. I was thinking the all blue made them look like washing machine repairmen. At the end of the day though they weren’t terrible. Except on Pujols. That uni definitely made him look like a beer league softball player.

  2. C’mon guys, it’s only for two days!!! Chill out!!
You too, Justin Turner!!! I think they looked different but really good!!!! Besides, they won!!!!

    1. If it was one day of wearing those blue tell-tubi outfits it would be one day too much! UGLY. They either look like goofy characters on a pre-school TV show, or the uniforms of a women’s slow pitch team that has terrible taste in style!

  3. Hated the pants- some sort of contrast needed &
they looked ‘too tight’ on most of the players. My
immediate reaction as they showed Bueller on the
mound was “I hope the uni doesn’t affect his pitching!”

  4. I have a closet full of years of Dodger shirts. Not one has a Nike (check mark), and never will.

  5. Not a fan. Why mess with a classic, especially abandoning the ‘LA.’ Why in the world would you do that? Baseball has always been too greedy, but this really is dumbfounding.

  6. At first I thought they were wearing jeans. Then I thought they came out in their pajamas. I had a pair that looked like that in 1960.

  7. The uniforms suck. The tight ugly pants make the players look like they just rolled out their yoga mats.

  8. The hat looks like the kind you see for sale at a swap meet store selling fake and unlicensed Dodgers merchandise. And who the hell thought it was a good idea to omit the LA logo, which is such an iconic symbol of our city?! If you’re gonna attempt a money-grab stunt like this, at least try to make it look good. Do better, Nike…

  9. YEA BOYS HAVE TO AGREE THEY ARE UGLY, THEY REMIND ME OF MY HIGH SCHOOL UNI’S AND THEY WERE UGLY. BUT THOSER HATS ARE PATHETIC , IT’S ALMOST LIKE THEY JUST GAVE UP WHENB THEY GOT TO THE HATS HATS. IT TRULY IS HARD TO MAKE A UNIFORM THAT HAS TO COMPETE WITH DODGER CLASSIC WHITE, OR GREY, BUT IF THEY JUST WOULD OF GAVE THE GUYS SOME INPUT ON THE THE UNI’S THEY PROBABLY WOULD OF LOOKED COOL BUT HONESTLY, I’M A TROJAN, AND I DO NOT WANT TO LOOK LIKE A OREGON DUCK!!

  10. They look like tamale making pajamas. They are just meant for Christmas morning and in the kitchen. You give these pajamas to somebody you don”t like.

  11. Those new uniforms suck big time. At best they look like a softball uniform, at worst pajamas. Whoever is managing the uniforms for MLB should find another line of work.
The All-Star uniforms were awful, too. AZ Dbacks are sad too especially the “Serpentines”!
