Dodgers: Kirsten Watson Joins SportsNet LA Broadcast Team

The Dodgers appear to have found their replacement for Alanna Rizzo. After she decided to step away from the team this offseason to spend more time with her family and work on her foundation, the team was without an on-field reporter. Today the club announced a familiar face would be taking on the job.

The team added details on what Kirsten Watson’s role will look like.

In her role as a reporter and host, Watson will contribute to the Dodgers’ SportsNet LA game broadcasts and studio programming as well as pre-and postgame coverage on both television and radio.

Watson joins the Dodgers following two years as a reporter and host with Spectrum SportsNet, where she appeared on pre-, post- and in-game broadcasts of the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Sparks and South Bay Lakers while also co-hosting the network’s Lakeshow studio program. She also currently serves as a producer for the National Football League, creating localized content for international markets, hosting its Game Recognize Game series and organizing international trips for NFL players for content and media opportunities. Watson also hosted Monday Night Football on Channel 5 in the UK, an international broadcast in partnership with NFL Network.

Kirsten was thrilled to join the reigning World Series champs.

I am excited to continue my passion as a storyteller with the Los Angeles Dodgers. To have the opportunity to be a member of and represent one of the most iconic sports franchises is an honor.

Watson comes from a background of incredible caliber, having finished her Master’s Degree at Columbia Journalism School. She was also awarded the Stuart Scott Internship from the National Association of Black Journalists and ESPN.

Welcome to the team, Kirsten!

  1. My wife and I thought Alanna was great. We wish her well. I am sure the Dodgers have hired another great reporter in Kirsten. Wish her well in her new endeavor.

  2. Yes! She is fantastic…even to the point of being over-qualified (A good thing) Reading her bio, she is one busy gal. You go girl!
