Dodgers: Los Angeles Has a New Top Prospect After MLB Pipeline’s Adjusted Rankings

The Dodgers have had a run of very successful top prospects over the last few years. We certainly saw that with the rookies that made a huge impact on their World Series run this season. But with MLB Pipeline‘s end of the season update, Los Angeles has a new top prospect.

They ranked Josiah Gray as the number 1 prospect in the Dodgers organization. That promotion comes as Dustin May, Tony Gonsolin, and Gavin Lux all move up from prospect status. Keibert Ruiz moved to the 2nd spot and Kody Hoese moved to number 3 in the organization.

Gray is widely regarded as the next big arm to come out of the Dodgers farm system. Most experts predict that he will contribute to the big league team as soon as 2021, though many felt he could have made an impact this season.

The Dodgers acquired Gray in the trade that also sent Alex Wood, Matt Kemp, Yasiel Puig, and Kyle Farmer to Cincinatti back in 2018. That trade also got them Jeter Downs, who was used in the trade to land Mookie Betts.

The Dodgers’ top 10 is rounded out by 3 more right-handed pitching prospects. Bobby Miller and Clayton Beeter were both a part of the 2020 draft class and already find themselves in Los Angeles’ top 10. Most interestingly, 19-year-old catching prospect Diego Cartaya moved all the way up to the number 5 spot in the organization.
