Dodgers: Manny Machado Unbothered By the Booing In Los Angeles

It was a close call between which player heard the loudest boo from Dodgers fans at the All-Star Game. Obviously, every single Astros player and coach heard more than enough from the Dodger faithful. But when Manny Machado was introduced to the National League squad, the fans remained equally loud.

The relationship between Dodgers fans and Manny Machado is…interesting. He helped them to reach the 2018 World Series after Corey Seager went down for the season. But that half-season with the Dodgers was filled with moments that didn’t sit well with fans in Los Angeles.

Machado then went on to sign a massive 10-year deal worth $300 million with the Padres. That made things worse for his relationship with fans in LA. But Manny didn’t seem to mind that Dodgers fans voiced their displeasure with him at the All-Star Game.

“I just go out there and play baseball. A lot of greats have gone out there and played the game. It’s a city that’s a rival right up the street, that’s just the beauty of baseball. That’s why we love this game and play this game. That’s what you get when you’re on an away team. It’s fun to watch, fun to play, and it’s a great stadium to play at.”

Dodgers fans obviously might not agree that San Diego is a rival, considering they just became a decent team. But it’s a pretty good attitude to have about playing in the All-Star Game and getting booed by fans.

But hey, Manny is having one heck of a season, even if the Padres are 10 games behind the Dodgers in the west. He’s hitting .303 and has driven in 51 runs leading into the All-Star break.
