Dodgers Max Muncy Launched Air Assault on Rockies with Bat and Glove

Despite losing to the Rockies, 13-9, Max Muncy made waves in social media last night. Most fans know Max for his amazing home runs, which he provided, but keep on reading to check out the play he made in the field.

First, let’s start with the home run! The Dodgers just had themselves one of the worst innings of the season, going from up 5-2 to down 10-5, after the Rockies scored 8 runs in an error-filled inning that Dodgers announcer, Orel Hershiser, inferred as circus-like.

Alex Verdugo and Justin Turner both draw walks and up comes Cody Bellinger, who launches one to the warning track, but is caught in Center. Up comes Max Muncy and he proceeds to launch one to the moon with a 464 foot shot to right field.

According to SB Nation’s Eric Stephen, with 9 home runs, Max Muncy is behind only four Dodgers for all-time number of home runs hit at Coors Field:

  1. Eric Karros – 20
  2. Matt Kemp – 16
  3. Adrian Beltre – 15
  4. Mike Piazza – 11

Now, towering home runs are great and all, but the plays that really get me are the ones that I would never expect.

In the bottom of the 4th inning, Chris Ianetta came up to bat with the Dodgers leading 5-2. Ianetta hits a screamer towards Max, but Muncy show’s Max effort climbing the ladder:
