Dodgers Minor League Players of the Week — Gould Trying To Recapture Form

[new_royalslider id=”93″] Hitter of the Week – Chris Jacobs

Chris Jacobs, who took home the same honors last week, continues to destroy the baseball, going 14-for-33 over the past week with three doubles and three home runs. Jacobs is coming off a 3-for-5 effort where he fell a triple short of the cycle. He only struck out seven times since last Saturday and has walked four times. In the month of May, he’s batting .462 with a 1.490 OPS. He’s fourth in the league with a .983 OPS and tied for second with eight home runs. There’s not much left for him to do in Rancho, so a promotion to Double A should be in his near future.

Pitcher of the Week – Garrett Gould

All but forgotten as a prospect, the Dodgers second rounder from 2009 has suddenly strung together two strong starts in a row. Garrett Gould, now 22, hadn’t put up a strong campaign since 2011, when he posted a 2.40 ERA with Great Lakes. Since then, he’s ERA was 5.75 in 2012 and 6.64 in 2013. It’s down to 5.51 this season, after allowing just two earned runs in his last 11 innings. It’s way too early to say he’s turned a corner but the last two outings have been impressive, to say the least.
