Dodgers Minor League Players of the Week – Jacobs Continues To Dominate
Eventually, Chris Jacobs is going to cool off, but until then, he’ll keep putting up video game numbers. Chris hit .464/.545/.946 over the past week with five doubles and three home runs. Jacobs also added four walks to go along with just six strikeouts. He’s now second in the California League with a 1.046 OPS overall and is tied for the league lead with 10 home runs. There’s nothing left for Jacobs to prove with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, so the sooner he gets to Chattanooga, the better.
Pitcher of the Week – Jonathan Martinez
Saturday marked three strong starts in a row for Jonathan Martinez. The soon-to-be 20-year-old has allowed only three runs over his last 20 innings. This past week, Martinez allowed a pair of runs in 13 innings, while dishing out no walks and striking out five. He’s been the Loons’ best starter this year and could see himself with the Quakes before the season is over.
