Player of the Day – Lindsey Caughel
I was surprised when I saw Caughel’s name on the Quakes’ roster to begin 2014, as he had a good amount of success in Rancho last year and has a repertoire that should fare well against more advanced competition. So it’s no surprise that his first start of the year was wildly successful. Lindsey doesn’t have overpowering stuff, but he knows how to change speeds and hit his spots. Craig Minami, of TrueBlueLA.com, said that Quakes’ pitching coach Matt Herges expects Lindsey to reach Double A this season. I’d say that’s a safe bet.
