Player of the Day – Brian Cavazos-Galvez

The hometown kid makes good. An eighth inning, pinch-hit home run proved the difference as the Isotopes beat the 51’s 6-5 on Saturday. Albuquerque entered the eighth trailing by a pair of runs, but that deficit was cut in half quickly as Jamie Romak hit his 17th home run to lead off the inning.

Brock Peterson singled and was followed by a Mike Baxter walk. Walter Ibarra grounded into a double play, moving the tying run to third, but also leaving the Isotopes with just one out to work with. Cavazos-Galvez came up to pinch hit for reliever Matt Magill and, before he could make his mark, a wild pitch brought Peterson in to tie the game. Cavazos-Galvez then hit the game-winning home run.
