Player of the Day – Jeremy Rathjen
Signed as an 11th rounder in 2012, Rathjen was already 22 years old and needed to move quickly. He hit well in his debut with Ogden but struggled in 2013 with Great Lakes. He moved up to Rancho this year and continued to have problems making contact, batting .197 in 39 games before heading to extended Spring Training to work on his swing.
He returned to the Quakes last Sunday and has been much better. Yesterday, the lanky 24 year old outfielder had five hits, including four doubles. He’s hitting .458 in six games since his return to the club.
