Dodgers: Mookie Betts Gives A Stirring Speech to the Class of 2020

The circumstances across the world in the early parts of this year are likely going to be remembered for hundreds of years. Lost in the shuffle of job loss, fear, and obviously overall health of a nation is the graduating class of 2020. What is usually a momentous day in a student’s life is now unfortunately reduced to just another day in quarantine. But the Dodgers’ Mookie Betts wanted to do what he could to fix that.

Betts took to his Instagram this week to post a stirring message of encouragement to the graduating class of 2020. You can check out the full speech here on Mookie’s Instagram account.

A guy who generally will shy away from the limelight of social media, Mookie has popped up all over the place during this pandemic. He was seen earlier last week purchasing groceries for en entire store full of shoppers in his home state of Tenessee, a kind act that caught the attention of everyone in Los Angeles. The Dodgers certainly found a great all-around guy when they traded for him in February, even if he never plays a game in a Los Angeles uniform.

Graduating classes all over the world have been forced to call off their commencement ceremonies due to the coronavirus, We’ve seen people get creative with their celebrations, including in my own family after my sister graduated college earlier this month. Zoom calls to celebrate have become the norm, but maybe showing your kid their favorite Dodgers superstar will help to ease the pain. Stay healthy, and stay safe out there.
