Dodgers: Mookie Betts is Back to His MVP Form

It’s hard to believe that a month ago, fans were wondering if Mookie Betts would ever be back to his elite self. The Dodgers superstar got off to a very tough start to the year, and he wasn’t showing any signs of improvement through the first couple of weeks of games.

But flash-forward to Tuesday night and Mookie added his eighth and ninth homerun of the month. That came against the Nationals as the Dodgers once again poured on a bunch of runs. But Mookie also drove in 4 more runs, adding to his ridiculous month of May.

This month, he has driven in 24 and scored 25 runs. After the big win, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts praised Mookie and how far he has come this season. In his mind, he’s right back to his MVP form.

“He’s getting on base. He’s slugging. God, he’s playing MVP-type baseball. He really is. It’s all about Mookie right now. He’s just carrying us right now, playing excellent baseball.”

“I don’t know. Probably in ’18. It’s just, you know, I had to sit back and remember who I was and who I can be now. You really don’t want to look too far in the past and try to be that guy. You just want to be in the moment and be who you are now.”

This Dodgers lineup is already unfair, and that’s with a few guys trying to find their swing again. With Mookie back to the level that fans are used to seeing him at, this is a VERY difficult team to beat, in any number of games.
