Dodgers: Mookie Betts Removed From the Game With Apparent Injury

The Dodgers were loving what they’ve seen out of Mookie Betts this week. After a great final 2 games to wrap up the first half, Mookie exploded out of the gates following the All-Star break. He carried that into Saturday night’s game/

Betts went 4-for-4 with 3 doubles and a homerun on Saturday against the Rockies. But on his final double, the Dodgers had to pull him out of the game with an apparent injury. He was replaced by Gavin Lux on second base.

Betts rounded first after Rockies outfielder collided attempting to catch his ball in the gap. He slowed down as he rounded the base paths and appeared to have hurt something in his legs. The Dodgers did not take a chance.

Mookie was in obvious pain as he came off of the field with Roberts and the training staff. The Dodgers outfielder has battled several injuries over the season, including a back issue that limited him greatly over the first few weeks.

Betts skipped the All-Star Game this year in order to rest up for the second half. Here’s hoping that the injury is nothing more than a cramp since that tens to happen in the high altitude of Coors Field.

  1. Yea, I was happy to see him working on the top hand on his swings lately, resulting in solid hard hit drives. It was good he took the time off from the ASG and recoup his ailing body. The latest word is he’ll be okay but it seems he was being bothered w/ a hip ailment throughout the year. I have to apologize to him for letting up on fly balls and getting thrown out on the bases. I had a feeling all his ailments were bothering him preventing him to play his game. Take some time off and get healthy.

    1. If that’s the case with this hip ailment and not much more, then maybe a 10 day IL might be what he needs. However, in these 2 games he sure looked and felt well enough to have a multiple hit game last night and go 4 for 4 with 3 doubles and a HR in tonight’s game.

      1. Yeah, but w/ all that was done, it might have come back to bite him when he hustled on Muncy’s hit to score. Mookie has been ailing w/ various aches and pains throughout the season and not make any excuses. He knew he had to play through it because of the injuries to other teammates. He all criticized him for lackluster play for a superstar but we have seen his performance when he is healthy. He took the 4 day rest and came out strong until he pushed it to score. The man is a warrior and truly dedicated to his team in winning another WS.
