Dodgers: Mookie Betts to Miss Another Spring Training Game

The Dodgers are just over two weeks away from kicking off their season in Colorado. The roster cuts have already started to come in as Dave Roberts figures out which 28 guys they will run with on Opening Day, That means the regular players should start to see more and more time on the field during these Spring games.

But one name that we have yet to see debut this Spring is Mookie Betts. The superstar outfielder was supposed to be in Wednesday afternoon’s game, but that was pushed back to Thursday. Betts reportedly had a stomach but that slowed him down.

But Mookie is once again not in the Dodgers lineup today. He was on the backfields again taking live at-bats, something that he also did on Wednesday afternoon. Doc told reporters before the team headed over to Salt River Fields that they expected him to be in the lineup on Friday night.

Mookie had a little bit of a down season in 2021, slowed down heavily by a series of injuries. A back problem, forearm soreness, and that lingering hip issue all seem to have played a role in some of his lowest offensive numbers since 2017.

But when healthy, Mookie is one of the premier outfielders in all of baseball. Surrounding him with guys like Trea Turner and Freddie Freeman at the top of the lineup should only help his cause during the 2022 season.
