Dodgers Nation Interviews Prospect John Rooney

John Rooney, 22, was the Dodgers’ third-round pick in the 2018 MLB Draft.

Here is a link to the interview that Rooney was kind enough to join Dodgers Nation for:

Topics discussed include John’s confidence in pitches in his repertoire, changes in competition between high school, college, and pro ball, plus his thoughts on being drafted by the Dodgers.

Rooney is posting a 2.68 ERA at the moment for the Great Lakes Loons and could see his way to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in short order.

He mentions his high school career in detail, one that was unlike most in the way that he began it 34-0. 34 wins and no losses. Insane.

He goes on to discuss the Dodgers’ efforts in his development and the success he has enjoyed with both his slider and changeup.

A native of Upstate New York, Rooney also talks briefly about the lack of exposure he had in high school and how he was still able to get to as amazing of a point as he is at in his career.

John Rooney currently checks in as the Dodgers’ 23rd-ranked prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.

Also, Chase Utley did absolutely nothing wrong.
