Dodgers Nation Visits Kershaw’s Ping Pong for Purpose

Life is about so much more than baseball. And in the midst of a division race, it is very easy to forget that this is just a game. The Dodgers came together for a great cause last Thursday though, and Dodgers Nation was lucky enough to be a part of that.

The guest list went on and on, as countless celebrities poured down the “blue carpet” all night long. Stars like Bill Nye, Matthew McConaughey, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, and so many Dodgers teammates who came out to support their ace.

Ping Pong for Purpose has been going on since 2013 as a part of the charity called Kershaw’s Challenge. The charity aims to assist at-risk children in Los Angeles, Dallas, Zambia, as well as the Dominican Republic. A noble cause that many on our staff personally support, including our own writer, Amanda Howell, who made a trip out to Zambia last month.

Clayton and his wife Ellen put together this charity back in 2011, and ping pong is just one of many ways they are able to raise financial assistance as well as awareness. They partnered with McConaughey this year, who was raising awareness for his charity Just Keep Living. His charity is dedicated to helping children all over America.

End Result

The competition was fierce and the outfits were over the top, but only one duo could walk away victorious. A father-son duo went home as champions at the end of the night, as Kershaw fell in the semi-finals. Nevertheless, he’s still number one in all of our hearts. Thanks for all that you do Kersh.
