Dodgers News: Adrian Gonzalez Talks Taking Two Days Off and Traveling Attire

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been in Pittsburgh since Friday playing in a 4-game series vs. the Pirates. It’s common for teams to wear suits on travel days, but for Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, he had something else in mind.

Gonzalez put a twist on his travel day wardrobe and surprised his team by wearing a full on Charro suit. As you can see below, Gonzalez’s suit has many intricate details and even comes with a sombrero.

Gonzalez spoke with David Vassegh of “Dodgers on Deck” on L.A. Sports AM 570 before Mondays game and said his Charro suit symbolizes his Mexican heritage and culture. Gonzalez said his custom made suit has many details and plans to wear the traditional outfit at many parties.

“All the silver is handmade, custom made There’s a lot of detail. All the buttons are baseballs, all the little hanging things are baseball bats. It’s got my initials. It’s definitely extremely well made, a lot of fine detail went into it,” Gonzalez said.

This was a great way for Gonzalez to lighten the mood and feel more relaxed as the Dodgers entered their series against the Pirates. Gonzalez had two consecutive days off before the clubs trip to Pittsburgh and he says the time off was extremely beneficial.

“I told him (manager Dave Roberts) to give me two days off so I can back off and not over think things. I went into the cage during the game and I found what I’ve been looking for, what I’ve been missing,” Gonzalez said.

“I feel very confident with my approach, my swing and the adjustments I’ve made. Thanks to the day off I typically don’t have, I found it and hopefully moving forward it’s a whole new page.”

Hopefully the days off really help Gonzalez get back in his zone and the team get another W. The Dodgers leave Pittsburgh with a win, and now head off to Milwaukee to face the Brewers.
