Dodgers News: Alex Verdugo To Make Major League Debut Friday

News broke yesterday that Alex Verdugo would be called up to the Dodgers as apart of September Call-ups, but not many details were released. Would Verdugo get some starting time? Would he just be an extra bat off of the bench?

LA time’s Andy McCullough tweeted yesterday that Dave Roberts confirmed that Alex Verdugo would be getting some playing time, so the question was then not if, but when?

Well Friday Dave Roberts broke the news on MLB Network Radio that Alex Verdugo would be in the starting lineup for the series opener against the San Diego Padres! His position will likely be in Center Field or Left Field, since that is where he spent the majority of time in Triple-A.

In case you are unfamiliar with Verdugo and his abilities, he dominated Triple-A with the OKC Dodgers, with a slash line of .314/.389/.436. He doesn’t hit for power too much, with only 6 home runs on the year, but he makes up for it with that OBP of .389!

Get familiar with his swing below since you’ll be seeing it for, hopefully, many years to come!

Welcome to the show, Alex!
