As the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline approached, the Los Angeles Dodgers were mentioned as one of the contenders who were in the market to bolster their roster. After all the speculation, the Dodgers came away without any new additions on Thursday.
At one point believed to be a frontrunner in the David Price sweepstakes, the Dodgers remained firm on their stance to keep their top three prospects in their farm system. The only acquisition the Dodgers managed to make was acquiring Darwin Barney from the Chicago Cubs a few days prior to the deadline.
The main area of need general manager Ned Colletti seemed interested in addressing was pitching. The Dodgers front office did state they are confident there will be pitchers available via waivers in August and that a new addition next month is not beyond reason.
