Dodgers News And Rumors: Third Replay Request Irks Umpires

[new_royalslider id=”35″]

There has been mixed feelings with instant replay being a part of the MLB this season. Some say it takes away from the purity of the sport, while others argue it’s necessary to help make accurate calls.

According to Mark Saxon of ESPN LA, the umpires weren’t too happy with the Los Angeles Dodgers in Tuesday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Their frustration reportedly came after manager Don Mattingly requested three replays over the duration of the game.

Mattingly and the Dodgers won two replays in the fourth inning, then lost a third in the fifth inning. The third challenge came with the Dodgers leading 8-3 and it’s reportedly the one that bothered the umpires.

Though Mattingly has noticed some of the challenges with instant replay, he believes the overall aspect of it will improve.
