With the NBA playoffs in full swing, Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling managed to steal the spotlight from what’s been an exciting first round. On Friday, TMZ released an audio recording of a conversation between someone believed to be Sterling and his ex-girlfriend. In the recording, the person believed to be Sterling makes derogatory racial remarks.
On Sunday, Deadspin released an additional five minutes of the conversation, which included Matt Kemp’s name. Kemp posed for a photograph with Sterling’s former girlfriend, who has been identified as V. Stiviano, that was then posted on her Instagram account. Many current and former NBA players have spoken out and now Kemp has as well.
Similar to Kobe Bryant’s tweet, Kemp said he wouldn’t be able to play for Sterling. Kemp also expressed shocked over being mentioned in the recording and expressed remorse for his friends and Clipper players, Blake Griffin and Chris Paul.
