For the fifth consecutive game, Matt Kemp was out of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ lineup Tuesday night in the second of a three-game set with the Cincinnati Reds. Kemp did get a pinch-hit appearance in the eighth inning, striking out with Chone Figgins standing on second base.
Prior to the game, Kemp discussed his being left out of the lineup and expressed his desire to play, even if it’s not in center field. Kemp has been fielding fly balls in left field as part of a plan to get him more playing time at that position.
Carl Crawford suffered a sprained ankle in Tuesday’s win and is bound for the 15-day disabled list, which may open the door for Kemp to return to the lineup on a regular basis.
