Dodgers News and Rumors: Puig and Kobe Talk After Laker Game

The Lakers beat the Clippers on Tuesday night 116-103 in their season opener at Staples Center. The Clippers are believed to be the better team, but in yesterday’s battle for LA the Lakers’ hustle and energy led them to victory. Yasiel Puig was in attendance last night and might have rubbed off on the Lakers, who are without the superstar Kobe Bryant while he recovers from an Achilles tear.

Puig sat near courtside with Dodgers’ president Stan Kasten and Lakers executive president Jeanie Buss and even took pictures with Phil Jackson and Magic Johnson. Puig drew quite a crowd at Staples Center, but after the game Puig and Bryant shared a moment together away from the crowd. According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLA.com, Bryant gave Puig some valuable advice:

Every account I’ve heard is that the two men had a long, substantive conversation in which Bryant told Puig to let nothing stand in the way of him getting every ounce out of his talent.

Puig was there to enjoy the game, but it is becoming clear one of his priorities was to talk to Bryant and learn from one of the greatest of all-time. Bryant has experience of being young, talented and doing it all in Los Angeles as Puig could learn a lot from Bryant and their friendship only looks to be getting stronger.
