Now that the non-waiver trade deadline has passed, many teams have put some players on waivers.
Josh Beckett, Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier, Carl Crawford and Hanley Ramirez were all placed on waivers by the Los Angeles Dodgers. According to reports, all the players cleared waivers except Ramirez.
The team that claimed Ramirez was not identified and they now have three days to complete a trade for the shortstop. However, it’s more than likely the Dodgers will pull Ramirez off waivers and keep him on the roster.
Kemp, Ethier, and Crawford were not expected to be claimed by any teams due to their large contracts. Beckett and Ramirez are both in the last year of their contracts so it might have made sense for a team to put in a claim for a rental scenario.
The Dominican Republic native is hitting .273 with 12 home runs and 56 RBIs. This campaign has seemed to make staying healthy a difficult task for Ramirez as he has been bit by the injury bug. The Dodgers have expressed interest in resigning Ramirez, but his health concerns have halted any further discussion.
