Dodgers News and Rumors: Seattle Mariners To Interview Tim Wallach

The Dodgers are still searching to replace bench coach Trey Hillman, who was fired after the Dodgers were eliminated in the NLCS. They might have to look for a new third base coach as well, as according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, Wallach will interview for the Seattle Mariners’ managerial opening on Thursday.

Wallach has already interviewed to become the manager of the Detroit Tigers after Jim Leyland retired and now he will attempt to land the job in Seattle. The Tigers haven’t made an announcement yet, but Wallach is keeping his options open. Wallach was a candidate for the Dodgers manager position when Joe Torre retired in 2009, but the Dodgers chose Don Mattingly instead.

The Dodgers would love to have Wallach back, which is why they picked up his 2014 option, but he’s looking to run his own ball club. Wallach has managed in the minor leagues and won the Pacific Coast League manager of the year while managing the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes in 2009.
