Dodgers News: Austin Barnes Returns From the Family Emergency List

The Dodgers are taking on the Brewers for the first game of their series tonight in Milwaukee. Los Angeles will send out Julio Urias to the mound to face off against Freddy Peralta, and these 2 teams will match up plenty of times over the next few weeks. They will play 7 games between now and next Wednesday.

Before the series, the Dodgers activated Austin Barnes off of the family emergency list. Barnes had to sit out the final 2 games of the series against the Royals over the weekend to attend to a personal matter. In his place, the team selected the contact of Tony Wolters.

He went 0-for-4 with 3 strikeouts in the 2 games he played for the Dodgers. As part of the Barnes move today, he was designated for assignment before the game. Those were the only 2 games that he played with the big league squad this season.

Barnes has played 3 games this month for the Dodgers this month. In those 3 games, he has gone 3-for-11 with while assuming mostly backup catcher duties for Will Smith. But he is very much an integral part of this pitching staff, especially for Clayton Kershaw when he is healthy.

The Dodgers are entering tonight’s game with a 16 game lead over the Padres in the NL West. San Diego will take on Marlins this week before playing the Nationals over the weekend again.
