Dodgers News: Baseball on ESPN, Zoom Party 2, 25 Years of Nomo, and More

If you’re looking for baseball, this may be as good as it gets for some time as we wait for MLB and the Dodgers to return. The Korean Baseball Organization opens play this week and ESPN will be showing 6 games per week!

Play begins with opening day featuring the NC Dinos vs the Samsung Lions tonight (Monday night) at 10pm PDT.

Why is this important? Well, first of all, it’s real-life sports. But more importantly, the KBO will act as something of a litmus test for baseball fans and the potential return of MLB to our homes. If Korea can sustain play for weeks with zero cases of the coronavirus being reported, there’s a chance a similar course of action will work for baseball in the US.

Notably, there will be no fans in the stands at these KBO games, which is all but a guarantee for MLB, at least early in the season.

More info can be found below. But first, more news.

Today the Dodgers will host their second Zoom Party in as many weeks and this one looks pretty off the chain. Moreover, participants expected to join include Cody Bellinger, Andre Ethier, Steve Garvey, Adrian Gonzalez, Kiké Hernandez, Orel Hershiser, Kenley Jansen, Clayton Kershaw, Ross Stripling, and Justin Turner, among other possible surprise guests.

The event is happening at 6pm PDT tonight and will be followed by Dodgers Nation’s Blue Heaven Podcast live stream on YouTube.com/dodgersnationtv soon after.

This week in Dodger history also marked the 25 year anniversary of the MLB and Dodger debut of Hideo Nomo. The 1995 Rookie of the Year made his first start for LA in the states against the San Francisco Giants at Candlestick Park.

Nomo was the first Japanese-born baseball player to play in the MLB in 30 years at that time and went on to become the winnest Japanese pitcher in MLB with 123.
