Dodgers News: Chone Figgins Heads To Disabled List With Quad Strain

[new_royalslider id=”70″] In a season full of disabled list stints, the Los Angeles Dodgers have another player making his way to the group.

According to the Dodgers’ official Twitter account, Chone Figgins has been placed on the 15-day disabled list:

Figgins has become a dependable player off the bench lately for manager Don Mattingly and had been receiving spot starts to spell certain starters. On the season, he is hitting just .217, but owns an impressive .373 on-base percentage despite his lack of hits. Figgins’ patience at the plate has earned him 14 walks in 76 plate appearances. There was no real sign of the injury, as he started at third base last night and remained in the entire game.

For Triunfel, this will be his second stint with the Dodgers. He was recalled back on April 27 when the team wasn’t sure on the status of Hanley Ramirez, and was promptly sent back down two days later. Triunfel was claimed off waiver earlier this season and was placed on the 40-man roster. He has spent this season in Triple-A with the Albuquerque Isotopes and is hitting .212 with a home run and 14 RBIs in 51 games.

The Dodgers now have a bench that features Miguel Rojas, Jamie Romak and Triunfel, who all began the year in the minor leagues. Juan Uribe is expected back within the next two weeks and now Figgins will be out at least that long.
