Dodgers News: Chris Taylor Headed to the Injured List

The Dodgers have endured their share of injuries to stars this year. Mookie Betts, Walker Buehler, and Blake Treinen are just a few of the names that have missed a decent chunk of time so far. But the injury to Chris Taylor is one that really hurts the team.

Taylor fouled a ball off of his foot over the weekend and had to come out of the game. And despite missing a game, the Dodgers had him back in the outfield on Monday trying to work through it. That proved to be a mistake and CT had to come out of the game once again with that foot issue.

A CT scan on his foot revealed a break on Tuesday afternoon. The Dodgrs outfielder does not have a timeline for his return yet, but any sort of break offers a decent amount of time away from the field. That’s a big blow to lose such a versatile guy on defense.

“Not what I was hoping, obviously. Definitely a surprise to me, but it showed a small fracture there and it’s going to be a little longer than initially expected.”

The Dodgers officially placed Taylor on the injured list this afternoon. Losing him likely means that guys like Jake Lamb and Gavin Lux will start to see more reps in the outfield, despite both of them being left-handed hitters. Trayce Thompson should also get more opportunities with him out.

In his place, the Dodgers activated Zach McKinstry from the injured list. They also optioned Ryan Pepiot one day after his start and also activated Caleb Ferguson from the injured list. He will be available out of the bullpen today.
