Dodgers News: Cody Bellinger Reportedly Hires Scott Boras As New Representation

The Dodgers top prospect has hired the most powerful agent in the business.

Cody Bellinger has hired Scott Boras as his new agent, according to Robert Murray of FanRag. Bellinger was previously with Ballengee Group, which also represents Willie Calhoun, Alex Verdugo and other top prospects in the organization.

The motivation behind the move is unclear. Bellinger is likely within a year of his MLB call-up, and he recently told Dodgers Nation he’s trying to make the team out of spring training.

Boras is a polarizing figure in the baseball world. Renowned for his ability to exceed his clients’ expected earning power, Boras is often a lock to take his clients onto the market and ignite bidding wars. He orchestrated record contracts for Alex Rodriguez, Greg Maddux, Kevin Brown and others. He’s No. 1 on Forbes’ list of sports agents.

Bellinger joins Corey Seager and Julio Urias as Dodgers building blocks represented by Boras Corp. A hometown discount from any is less likely in this scenario. Los Angeles will have to pay up when they hit free agency, or someone else will.

We’ve yet to see Corey Seager’s A-swing
