Despite falling to 2-6 in extras after a thriller of a finish late into Tuesday night’s loss to the Milwaukee Brewers, there was still lots of exciting and or positive news flowing around.
LA’s current pitching staff was not supposed to be a strength, yet it’s been a big reason why they’re winning and there are plenty of more arms on the way in the next couple of years. Dustin May will soon return, and the lineup still features the likes of Trea Turner, Freddie Freeman, and Mookie Betts – all three makes an impact on and off the field. Watching Kimbrel come in to close is like watching an undertaker show up at a party.
True, but my fear is it will be the Angel of Death in October. It’s bad enough in the 9th, but extras with a guy at 2nd is almost a guaranteed run, well, or two.
I really hope that Kimbrel will figure things out.
I’ve heard that OKC is a great place for figuring!
Um, ok.
No FB command… mechanics are a mess. Likely mental things creeping in for him. I hate the trade, still do. There’s only two pitchers on the Dodgers w/ negative WARs, Kimbrel and Bickford.
When does he not melt? It’s obvious he shouldn’t be the closer. He makes me uncomfortable protecting a large lead, let alone a close lead. Any other team would have tried someone else by now. Phillips has been lights out, why not promote him to the closer role. Duh!
Why is it that Dave can sit Cody and Maxto “give them time to reset” but he won’t do the same for Kimbrel????
