Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Reshapes Lineup for Game 4 vs Giants

So it comes to this. Win today to keep on playing. It’s a tough spot for a team with 106 wins like the Dodgers, but don’t say they’ve never been here before. Still, there appears to be either a sense of urgency or a desire to try anything different to spark a stagnant offense.

So, once again, Dave Roberts is turning to Gavin Lux.

When the lineup dropped ahead of NLDS game 4 against the Giants, it looked different from any lineup we’ve seen in this postseason so far.

Doc opted to bench the struggling AJ Pollock and insert Lux into the lineup. Cody Bellinger returns to first base and Chris Taylor moves over to left field.

Early in September, the infielder-turned-outfielder was looked at to bring a spark to an inconsistent offense. He went on a tear, batting over .360 for two-plus weeks before injuring himself running into the outfield wall in left center field.

Defensive concerns have kept Lux mostly on the bench up to this point in the postseason. However, now Roberts sees the urgent need for lineup help any way he can get it.

The Dodgers put it all on the line tonight at Dodger Stadium behind Walker Buehler, who is pitching on short rest. This, my friends, is what we play for… meaningful, anxiety-filled baseball.

  1. Most Dodgers fans have probably become numbed to a new line-up since Roberts have juggled it throughout the season. Hoping it’s not like rearranging the deck furniture aboard the Titanic. Whatever, to quote the late Al Davis—“Just win Baby!!”

    1. Bluemaxx, Kapler has had a different lineup for every game as well. Kris Bryant has started in CF, RF, and 1B. Lame criticism. Players have to perform! It’s as simple as that! Some can, some can’t on the big stage.

      But yes, just win baby!

  2. Very happy to see Lux get the start over playoff loser AJ Pollock. This should have been done sooner, but better now than not all.

    Let’s go Dodgers!

  3. Trea Turner has been uncharacteristically crappy at the plate. Let’s hope he snaps out of it tonight!

  4. I’m mad at myself for not writing my predicted score for game 4 before game time. My prediction was 7-1 Dodgers. Would have been spot on had Mookie not misplayed Crawford’s drive off Treinen.

So I’m making my prediction for game 5 early. Dodgers 6-1 over the Giants. Webb embarrassed the Dodgers in game 1…it ain’t happening twice!

    Let’s go Dodgers!
