Dodgers News: Dustin May Activated, Reyes Moronta DFA’d

The Dodgers are finally getting some help back into their rotation. After what seems like an entire season of piecing it together and working with what they have, Los Angeles will get Dustin May back into the mix tonight. He gets the start against the Marlins for the first time since he went down with Tommy John surgery early last year.

In preparation for that, the Dodgers activated May off of the 6-day injured list this afternoon. He rejoins the team and will make his 2022 season debut after throwing 6 games for the Oklahoma City team on his rehab assignment.

In order to make room for May on the Dodgers roster, they also had to clear a 40-man spot. That ended up being Reyes Moronta, who was designated for assignment by the team this afternoon to clear a spot.

Moronta appeared in 22 games for the Dodgers this season after signing a minor league deal. In 23.2 innings of work, he allowed 11 earned runs and didn’t get into much meaningful action for the big league squad.

But the big news for the Dodgers is definitely May returning to action. With Walker Buehler out for the season, they’re hoping that May can slot into the rotation for the postseason and be a big game guy.

  1. My guess is Bickford is next to go when Graterol is activated. That should greatly strengthen both the starting and relief corp
